What is the configuration of the 2 NICs on the server? What configuration is used on the modem and what kind of modem is it? You need to give us more detail.
What do you mean "what kind" of modem? It's a standard consumer DSL modem. It has the option to be a DHCP server, which we turned off for this configuration.
We don't have a static public IP.
DSL modem static IP 10.1.1.1
[USB 10.1.1.2 - not used]
Server
NIC1 static IP 10.1.1.3
Connected to DSL modem directly
NIC2 static IP 192.168.0.1
DHCP & DNS server on this card
DNS forwarding to ISP
