I understand that you are going to upgrade Windows 2K Server to the SBS 2K3
Server. If I have misunderstood your concern, please let me know.
Please take your time to read through my reply:
a. Will the upgrade populate this in the directory?
A: No. Because there is no AD user emails data information will be inherit
from the previous domain.
b. Will I need to manually change the email client on each user's machine
(Outlook 2003) to point to the new Exchange Server?
A: Yes, you may need to do so. However, due to lack of Linux data
information here, we are not sure how Linux mail Server works. You may need
to create new user profile for domain users to avoid potential issue in the
future.
c. Do I need to run the script on the clients
http://server_name/connectcomputer?
A: Yes, you need to run this script on client workstation to join in to the
SBS Domain.

I have a Windows 2000 Server (1) domain I am planning to upgrade next
week to SBS 2003.
I am curious as those who have performed this kind of upgrade, whether
there are any gotchas I should be aware of or look out for.
All client machines have been upgraded to Windows XP Pro and Office
2003.
There is an existing Linux mail server that will be replaced with
Exchange server. I plan to just leave the existing .pst files from
outlook on the user's home drive (mapped to Z:\ on server)
In active directory, none of the users have their email address. Will
the upgrade populate this in the directory? Will I need to manually
change the email client on each user's machine(Outlook 2003) to point
to the new Exchange Server?
