I tried to apply the hotfix suggested in one of the links, but it will not
install. It gives me an error that indicates that my system is running a
service pack that already has the fix applied. I am running SBS 2003 w/ SP1.
Any idea as to anything else I can try. The initial links you provided did
not provide any other soultion to my problem.
BTW, if the Shadow Copy service is somehow causing this problem. Is there
any way to disable it on the server?

Hi Chief,.
Thank you for posting in SBS newsgroup.
Based on my research, this kind of Event 12 message may be related to the
Volume Shadow Copy Service. This kind of event could occur after deleting a
hardware volume shadow copy that was created with the Volume Shadow Copy
Service on a Microsoft Windows Server 2003-based server.
This issue occurs because Windows Server 2003 identifies the hardware
volume shadow copy in the same way that it identifies a hard disk.
Therefore, when you delete a hardware volume shadow copy, Windows Server
2003 generates the same error message that is generated when a hard disk is
removed.
You can ignore this event in the system event log if you have deleted a
hardware volume shadow copy from your computer.
For detailed information, you can refer to the following KB article:

Also please make sure the tape drive is in the Microsoft HCL and there is
no compatible issue.

| I am working with a Sony AIT Tape changer on a SBS 2003 server. However
