Jan,
You may well be right - I will check. I surely didn't read all the
documentation: there is such a lot of it and I probably underestimated how
tricky this swing business can be. However, Jeff was well aware of the
problems I was having and never mentioned this; maybe he hasn't read it
either :)
Cheers,
Bill

Bill,
information in blog is also in SBSMigration documentation. If memory
serves me right it is in Troubleshooting section.
But than again it is very long document :-)
I am pretty sure, without fixing permissions, there might be more issues
(e.g. SharedFax install fails).

I thought the blog link was an advertisement :^) I am, however, as you so
rightly pointed out, a fairly silly person.
Woohoo!!! All is wonderful in the world again, life is sweet and
meaningful and the fix actually WORKED!! Your blood is worth bottling,
Ms Bradley and I am forever in your debt. Where should I send the money?
How in the heck did you find that reference? I'm gonna pass it on to
Jeff: this issue IS related to the swing in this scenario after all.
Thanks for staying with me Susan.
Cheers,
Bill

The blog post silly. Follow those instructions.

Sorry, Susan, try what?
I was thinking permissions, too, but have had no joy either. Very
frustrating because the server is otherwise behaving correctly. I would
re-do the swing if I thought this issue might go away, but...
Is the logon failure not relevant?

It shouldn't be an issue.. and that Sharepoint error is a red herring.
It acts like possibly permissions, but like I said, I'm not getting any
hits.
Try that though

I have also had a look at the icwdetails*.htm files and they look

The Security Log error looks nasty, no?
There 3 NICs in this server but I have disabled the third unused one.
This is OK isn't it?

Very odd. Have you tried configuring the 3 components seperately via
the
CEICW? Have you applied ISA 2004 SP2 (shot in the dark here!)? In the
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Small Business
Server\Networking\ICW
folder there will be a load of icwdetails*.htm files. These contain
the
configuration settings you have specified when running the CEICW. Do
they
look OK? In the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Small Business
Server\Support folder is the icwlog files. Any obvious errors in
there?
Have
you tried a Windows Update to update your NIC drivers (another shot
in the
dark here!!)?
Everytime I've had a problem with the CEICW wizard it's been down to
DHCP
or
DNS. Clear your event logs and reboot; any errors?
As a side note, I concur with Jeff that this is nothing to do with
the
Swing
Migration.

Thanks for your reply N.
CEICW fails after filling in all the forms on the screen where
is
actually
showing progress. These all fail:
Network Configuration
Firewall Configuration
Secure Web Configuration
Same error for all: "An error occurred while configuring a
component.
To
continue with the Wizard and configure remaining components,
click
OK,"
Email configuration completes without error.
The only way to successfully complete the wizard is to uninstall
ISA
2004.
A reinstall of ISA 2004 launches the CEICW which completes
without
error at
that time. Subsequent runs of CEICW give the original errors.
I have only found one unresolved reference to this issue from
August
last
year in the windows server newsgroup:

HiThis is exactly the issue I am facing.
I'm trying to finish a Swing Migration from SBS2000PE to
SBS2003PE.
It
seemed to go
really smoothly untill I can to run the CEIW on the new
server - and
it
just
fails. I've never had this wizard fail on me before. There's
nothing
in
the
event log that's relevant and I include below the later part of
the
ceiw
log.
This log follows a failure on the network configuration - I
cancelled
the
remaining tasks (firewall & web certificate also fail - e-mail
setup
works)
I think that it's the network failure that causes the other
failures.
The hardware is fine and it seems that there may be a
permission
problem.
I'm under the hammer a bit as the new server should be in use
by
Monday am
so any clues would be appreciated.
