I just want to add me too !
I have been trying to troubleshoot the exact same issue at a client site and
so far haven't been able to pin it down. Once the firewall shuts down it's
all over and the box has to be powered off because it won't respond at the
logon screen.

Hi all.
the above scenario happens to us about once every three weeks. No one can
log on, the server acts as though it is under high load - ie very slow
administrator logon, screen updates etc. When re-started, everything is
back to normal but the traces in the event logs are that SBS Monitoring
has failed to connect with its database, firewall service is unable to
connect to its database, firewall service and remote access service are
successfully sent stop commands and those two services enter the stopped
state.
It's SBS2003 Premium and we have a fairly big box for the job - Dual Zeon
processors, 4Gb ram etc - our average CPU useage is about 1%.
Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this?
Thanks in advance
Ed
