Hello Allen,

Thank you for posting back!

From your reply, I understand that you cannot access localhost on the SBS
Server Console. Based on my experience, it seems that your IIS has
corrupted. We may need to reinstall your IIS after further investigate.

To further troubleshoot your issue, please help me to gather following
information and log files.

My reply is a bit log, please take your time read through all my reply and
gather all the information. I greatly appreciate your time and
co-operation!

1. I need to confirm with you whether you have performed all my
suggestions
in my previous reply: Rerun the CEICW, check C:\Inetpub folder permissions
and Companyweb Properties. This is very important information for us to
begin your issue.

2. How did you build the FTP site? In IIS or any third-party FTP software?

3. Please help me to gather the ISA info and send the log file to my
mailbox.

a. Download the file from the following URL:

http://www.isatools.org/isainfo/ISAInfo.zip

b. Extract all files to a folder on ISA server

c. Double click Isainfo.js. This will generate 2 files
ISAInfo2004-<computer-name>.log and ISAInfo2004-<computer-name>.xml in the
current folder.

d. Please send these files to me.

4. We also need to gather the ISA logs. Please zip the log file and send
it
to my mailbox.

a. Schedule a down time.

b. Open ISA 2004 management console.

c. Expand the server node and highlight 'Monitoring'.

d. In the right pane, switch to the 'Logging' tab, make sure the 'Task
Pane' is showed there.

e. In the 'Task Pane', click 'Configure Firewall Logging' under 'Logging
Tasks', and then switch the 'log storage format' from 'MSDE database'
(default) to 'File'.

f. Switch to the 'Fields' tab, click 'Select All', and then click OK.

g. In the 'Task Pane', click 'Configure Web Proxy Logging' under 'Logging
Tasks', and then switch the 'log storage format' from 'MSDE database'
(default) to 'File'.

h. Switch to the 'Fields' tab, click 'Select All', and then click OK.

i. Click 'Apply' to save changes and update the configuration.

j. Temporarily disable the Firewall service. To do that, please click
Monitoring | Services tab, and then right click 'Microsoft Firewall' to
choose 'Stop'.

k. Clear the current existing W3C logs. To do that, go to the log saving
directory and clean any existing .W3C logs. By default, the logs will be
saved to 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft ISA Server\ISALogs'. (Some MDF may
not
be able to deleted, that's normal.) You may backup them first and then
delete them.

l. Go back to the ISA 2004 management console, and then Start the stopped
'Microsoft Firewall' service.

m. Reproduce the problem, stop the service, and then gather the resulting
W3C files to me for analysis.

n. Please also let me know the IP address of the testing client/server so
that I can filter the data.

5. In your reply, you mentioned "CAN GET TO OWA EXTERNALLY", I need to
confirm with you that you can access OWA from the Internet, but you cannot
access OWA from the SBS Server Console or from any domain client
workstations. Am I right?

6. On the SBS Server, open a command window, type following two commands:

"nslookup" (without quotation marks)

and then please type

"companyweb" (without quotation marks)

What are the results of these two commands, please?

7. On one client workstation, open IE, type:

http://SBS_Internal_IP_Address/remote

http://companyweb.domain.local

Can you access these web links?

8. Please schedule a down time and temporarily disable the FTP site, can
you access the Companyweb?

Thanks a lot for your time and co-operation! I am waiting for your reply!

Best regards,

Brandy Nee

Let me also add that I believe my issues are because I shuffled the order
of
a few ISA rules and am not sure where the original order is so I cannot
movee them back to the correct order.

Hello Allen,

Thank you for posting to the SBS Newsgroup.

I understand that when you trying to access Companyweb, you encounter
"the
Web server connection was closed" error message. If I have misunderstood
your issue, please let me know.

Based on my experience, this issue is complicated and we need time to
troubleshoot. In order to supplement your description, I need your help
to
gather the following information:

1. Can you access the companyweb on the SBS Server Console
(http://companyweb)?

2. When did the issue occur? Could you access Companyweb before? Did you
make any changes or install any software/updates on the SBS recently?

3. On the server, run "eventvwr" (without quotation marks), check
whether
there are any errors in Application and System. If yes, double click it,
click the Copy button and paste the full content to the Newsgroup.

4. Just to double confirm, can you access following web links on the SBS
Server Console:

a. http://localhost.
b. https://localhost/exchange.
c. https://localhost/remote
d. http://localhost/monitoring.
e. http://localhost/backup.

5. Do you have ISA Server installed? If yes, is it ISA 2K or ISA 2K4?

============

At the same time, I also strongly suggest that you perform following
steps
to isolate the issue. Please see:

Suggestion 1:

I suggest that we rerun the Configure E-mail and Internet Connection
Wizard
(CEICW) to publish the web sites again and see how things go from there.
For detail information, you can refer to the following KB:

How to configure Internet access in Windows Small Business Server 2003
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=825763

Suggestion 2:

Please check following Permission settings for C:\Inetpub:

Administrators and System account should have full control;
Users have Read&Excute/List Folder Contents/Read permission;
Interactive and NETWORK should have List Folder Contents permission.

Suggestion 3:

Please check Companyweb settings:

a. Open IIS MMC, expand to IIS\Yourdomain (local Computer)\Web
Sites\Companyweb.
b. Right click Companyweb, Properties.
c. Web Site tab:

Description: Companyweb
IP address: Your internal IP address
TCP Port 80, SSL port 444
Check the boxes "Enable HTTP Keep-Alives" and "Enable Logging".

d. Home Directory tab:

A directory located on this computer
Local path: %systemroot%\inetpub\companyweb
Read, Log visits and Index this resource
Application name: Root
Execute Permissions: Scripts only
Application pool: DefaultAppPool

e. If you have any make any changes, please run "iisreset" (without
quotation marks) to active the changes.

Please take your time to perform the steps and gather the information.
I
am
looking forward to hearing from you!

Best regards,

Brandy Nee
