I have run the Configure Remote Access Wizard and (after your prompting!)
have followed the information at the end of it.
I am able to VPN in to another SBS 2003 network that I take care of so I
know that the problem is not with the remote computer or network.
I'll pop over and eliminate the router to see if that improves matters.

However, the more basic Linksys routers will allow only a small number of
simultaneous VPN connections - one or two IIRC. I would always let the SBS
do DHCP - I think it's better for a variety of reasons, not the least of
which is that it's closer to a "default" SBS install and may be more
trouble-free for that reason. Either way, you could remove it as a test to
see if it's involved. I used a very basic Linksys for a while and never had
a problem, though, so I suspect it's not that.
Have you run the Configure Remote Access wizard from the Internet and E-Mail
page of the SBS console? That should at least verify the appropriate
settings on the server. Read the last screen of the wizard for some good
information about configuration.

Thanks for your advice Dave. There is a router in front of the SBS and the
PPTP Pass through WAS enabled. PPTP was NOT enabled at the remote router
but
is now.
Still getting the same issue though. When viewing the router incoming log
at
the server end, I see the connection my remote computer is making to port
1723. Using Linksys routers at each end.
I wonder if I should consider doing away with the router and using the
DHCP
on the SBS 2003? Everything else works correctly on the server, RWW,
exchange, etc.

There's been some discussion about whether GRE47 has to be enabled at the
remote end. I can see why it would have to be, but I don't honestly know
how it's set on my home router - whatever the mfr's default. I'd try
enabling it on your end, where it for sure needs to be enabled, and if

get the same error, try enabling it on the remote router as well.
If you're getting the message I'm thinking you're getting, it's not for
sure
that problem - the message just indicates that as a possible cause. So
if
you enable GRE47 and it still doesn't work, please post back with more
details of your networking configuration.

When trying to connect the remote computer just times out waiting for

On the SBS 2003, the event viewer comes up with a RASMAN error - The
connection between the VPN Server and the VPN Client has been
established
but the VPN cannot be established. Event ID 20209.
It then goes on to talk about Generic Routing Encapsulation - GRE's.
This
is
the point where I get confused! Not that it takes much to get me
confused....
What's the best next step please?
