RE: SBS/IIS/DNS/Static IP/Wireless/Sharepoint connection issues

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Hi James,

Thanks for using the SBS newsgroup.

From your description, I understand the issue to be: the web site can not
be accessed from internet and received Error Code 10061: Connection
refused. If I am off base, please don't hesitate to let me know.

First I would like to mention that , we cannot install SPS 2003 onto the
SBS 2003 server because SPS 2003 cannot install on a server box which
already has Exchange server installed. For more detail information, please
refer to the following KB article:

825505 Programs That Cannot Coexist with Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=825505

If you want to use SPS 2003 in a SBS environment, you may want to setup an
additional server box in the domain and install SPS on that server box.

Have you installed the SPS 2003 on the SBS 2003 server box? if yes, please
verifying it and test the issue again.

Hope above information helps! I am happy to be of assistance to you and
look forward to your reply!

Have a nice day!

Sincerely,

Jenny Wu

Somewhere in this proverbial haystack is the needle I need to remove to
get my server/LAN online.

BACKGROUND:

Server was moved from a hosting service to my SOHO to better test out
the functionality of SPS 2003/WSS 2003/Office 2003/et al. Running SBS
SP 1, WSS -- when I can access this via the internet, I'll install SPS
2003 and connect the rest of the LAN to test the Outlook 2003/SPS 2003
integration (IM, task pane, etc.).

STATUS:

Can get out from the server to the internet; can ping it successfully;
when calling up site via IE using static IP address, get error msg:

Error Code 10061: Connection refused
Background: The server you are attempting to access has refused the
connection with the gateway. This usually results from trying to
connect to a service that is inactive on the server.

OTHER INFO:
-- I have c:/inetpub & wwwroot directories set for WEB SHARING with
READ access.
-- IIS is running
-- Default web site is running
-- Built-in account IUSR_SERVERNAME does not exist (found that out via
a test install on a demo server...that server worked until I got to the
SPS portion (and there is a IUSR account, whatever that is); can't
re-add IUSR... as it says account exists (where?!)
-- I am not (at this time) allowing "Anonymous Access"; using Basic
Authentication; not a preference, just trying to work around the IUSR
account issue
-- can hit wireless router from the server and can see if via laptop

I would appreciate a little network 101 guidance. Thank you in
advance.

James
