Can't access OWA from within network (re-post)

I can access OWA from any PC that is not part of my network but can't
do it from within the network. I can access it if I use:
http://localhost/exchange,
http://servername/exchange
or use the server's FQDN
https://server'sNetBIOSname.mydomain.com/exchange
but if I use https://mail.mydomain.com/exchange I get "page cannot be
displayed". I have setup "mail" on the domain registrar to point to my
server's public IP. (Same problem with accessign SharePoint.)
when I set up the server, I used "mydomain.com" as the domain name
without prefixing with
anything (like "local.mydomain.com"). "mydomain.com" is a registered
domain and I have set the MX record at the domain registrar to point to
my SBS server; all the relevant ports are opened (444, 443, ...).
Any solution short of having to re-install the server?
