RAID and sbs 2003

I am looking into setting up our system as a raid. I have looked
through the posts, but I am still perplexed. I would appreciate any
help you could offer.
Here is our situation;
We currently have two identical SATA drives. The first drive is cut up
into two (c and d). C has all our system files, while d has most of
our data storage. The 2nd drive is used for backups..
Here are my questions;
1) Is there a way to set this up as a RAID? The two things we are
hoping to achieve is a performance increase, and having a copy if one
of the disks fail.
2) Should I use the onboard raid controller, or should I invest in a
add on controller card (any suggestions)?
3) Which raid type should I use?
Thanks as always, you folks rule.
