In addition to the information Jenny provided - you might try marking all
the files/folder as private, closing and opening windows explorer, and then
deselecting the 'mark private' check mark.

Hi Simon,
Thanks for your information.
From the error message, this issue occurs if you do not have permissions
to
access some of the files that are located in Documents and
Settings\<UserName> folder that corresponds to the user who you are trying
to migrate. You may experience this issue even if the Documents and
Settings\UserName folder is not marked as private.
To workaround this issue:
NOTE: Before following these steps, confirm that the "Make this folder
private" check box is cleared for the user who you are trying to migrate.
1. On the client computer, quit the Windows Small Business Server Network
Configuration Wizard if it is running.
2. Start Windows Explorer, and then open the SBSNetSetup.log file by using
a text editor such as Notepad. This file is located in the following
folder
on the client computer: %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Windows Small Business
Server\Clients
3. Examine the log file for information that is similar to the following:
CProfileList::IsPrivateProfile( <UserName> )
CProfileList::IsPrivateProfile() - starting the search [C:\Documents and
Settings\<UserName>]
CProfileList::IsPrivateDir() - returning TRUE for [C:\Documents and
Settings\<UserName>\Local Settings\Temp\JunkFiles]
CProfileList::FindPrivateDir() - returning TRUE [C:\Documents and
Settings\<UserName>\Local Settings\Temp\JunkFiles]
In this log file, the last two lines return a value of True for private
files in the temporary folder of the affected user's profile.
4. Delete the files that the SBSNetSetup.log file indicates are private
from the user's profile. In the example log file from step 3, remove the
files from the affected user's JunkFiles folder.
5. Quit Windows Explorer.
6. Visit the following Web site to migrate the user's profile to Windows
Small Business Server 2003: http://<ServerName>/ConnectComputer
For more detail information, please check the following KB article :
886210 "The following user settings are private" error message when you
try
to migrate a user's profile to Windows Small Business Server 2003
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=886210
If the issue still exists, please provide me with the following log files:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Small Business
Server\Clients\SBSNetSetup.log file from the affected client computer.
I am happy to be of assistance to you.
Have a nice day!
Sincerely,
Jenny Wu

Hi Jenny,
thanks for the reply. The problem I was getting is that it is refusing
to migrate the main user on the computers' local account settings as
they are marked as private. I tried another local account and that
migrated fine, so the http://server/connectcomputer part is working fine.
I'll get the client to make sure sp4 is applied and try again today and
get some screen shots for you. Thanks
simon.

Hi,
I tried to add a client computer to the domain on the new sbs2003 server
today using the http://server/connectcomputer string, it complains that
the selected user settings are private and provides a link to a doc
explaining how to get round this here:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/5/6/1/561c9fd7-0e27-4525-94ec-4d2d
f61aa3/TSHT_SBS.htm#clients
text for the 2k part is
"If the client computer is running Windows 2000 Professional, log on to
the client computer as the user with the profile that did not migrate,
and then grant the Administrators group full control over the profile
folder and all subfolders.
To grant the Administrators group full control of the profile folder and
all subfolders
Click Start, and then click My Computer.
Double-click the drive where Windows is installed (usually drive C:,
unless you have more than one drive on your computer).
Double-click the Documents and Settings folder.
Right-click the user folder that did not migrate, click Properties, and
then click the Security tab.
Click Add, type Administrators in the text box, and then click OK.
Under Group or user names, click the Administrators tab, select Allow
for the Full Control permission, and then click OK.
Repeat steps 4 through 6 for all subfolders in the user profile.
Repeat steps 4 through 7 for each user folder that did not migrate.
While you are logged on with the user profile that did not migrate, give
the user ownership of all files in his or her profile.
To give the user ownership of all files in the user profile
Right-click the user folder to be migrated, click Properties, and then
click the Security tab.
Click Advanced, and then click the Owner tab.
In the Change owner to box, select the user that you are giving
ownership to, and then click OK.
Select the Replace owner on subcontainers and objects check box, and
then click OK twice to save your settings.
Run Client Setup again.
"
How to I run client setup again, if I try the /connectcomputer link it
tells me the computer is already on the domain.
Thanks for any replies.
