Re: Windows Update - what are the gotchas?

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

If you choose to update manually using update.microsoft.com I would suggest staying away from the device drivers. For the most part the rest of the updates are solid, but I have personally had problems with less than optimal drivers up there. For those I try to go to the manufacturer's website.

What issues do I have to look out for?

I don't want to apply some upgrade which will leave me stuck and unable
to restart the server. It is critical that it is kept working.
