Courts are like casinios. Players win or loose, the Casinios (lawyers)
always win.

Exactly, Susan. And who wins in these cases depends on who does the better
job. MDBJ has a chance of winning here because MS's lawyers screwed up.
Court cases don't come about because everyone is behaving reasonably.

Are you kidding? You know how many court cases are BECAUSE of
ambiguities on attorney written contracts?

Gary Karasik wrote:
I think a reasonable person would agree with you (and nearly everyone
else) that MS means only one client PC. The poster is technically
correct that the sentence as written does not say specifically exclude
other, single PCs, as opposed to say a network. It's a lawyer's job to
eliminate all possible ambiguities. They haven't done that here.

That's a stretch Gary.

Single PC = one pc.

Gary Karasik wrote:

I believe that you are technically correct. As written, the sentence
does not exclude putting it on several single PCs. Microsoft pays a
lot of money to lawyers to avoid just such ambiguities, and in this
case MS didn't get its money's worth.

sure, I'm parsing the sentence.
what part indicates that it can't be put on more than one PC?

"may be installed on a single pc" does not exclude "more than one
pc."

look at
"you may install it on a single pc, you may also install it on two
pcs"
the point being, the first part does not invalidate the second part.
a accurate sentance would be
"you may only install it on a single pc" which would make the two
liner
"you may only install it on a single pc, you may also install it on
two pcs"

do you see the difference? the way it's written, it has not excluded
the possibility of multiple installations.

That is what the FAQ answer said, "may be installed on a single
client
computer" take a look again it is the documentation that you
requested.

Q. Is it possible to install the server applications included with
Windows
Small Business Server 2003 on a different computer running Windows
Server?
Is it possible to install the server applications included with
Windows
Small Business Server 2003 on a different computer running Windows
Server?
For example, I want to run SQL Server on the computer running
Windows
Small
Business Server 2003, but I want to run Exchange Server 2003 on a
different
computer.

A. No. The server applications that come with the product must be
installed
on the same physical machine, if they are installed at all. The
only
exception is that FrontPage 2003, which is included with the
premium
edition, may be installed on a single client computer in the
Windows Small
Business Server 2003 network.
