What brand of UPS? How are you setting the shutdown configuration, in CP ->
Power or in the software that came with the UPS?
What I'm getting at is that the UPS probably included a management program
that offers more features than the one built into the OS. If it's an APC,
PowerChute Business Edition is free, and will allow you to control the
shutdown as you wish. I've never tried the built-in UPS management in WS03,
but it does seem kind of inelegant for a program to just "pull the plug."
APC initiates a regular shutdown as if you'd done it from the Start menu.
