RE: Some Microsoft Emails not coming through

Hi James,

Thanks for your email.

I am sorry for the delay in responding due to I'm out of office from 26 Jan
to 30 Jan so unable to reply you email. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
Thanks for the understanding.

As you mentioned, the incoming Internet email is coming in on port 2525
since bellsouth blocks port 25. As we know, we send outgoing email through
SMTP service on port 25 by default, and the Default SMTP Virtual Server
listens on TCP Port 25 for incoming Internet email. Therefore, can I assume
you have an ISP helps you gather Internet email and then forwards those
email to your Exchange Server on TCP port 2525 via SMTP service? If so,
please kindly try to contact your ISP to double-check if they block some
incoming email based on Message content. If it is not the case, please
kindly let me know the exact deployment condition for further analysis.
Thanks for the understanding.

>> I am on smtp for incoming mail (that's the default in exchange, right?)
No, please kindly note that on SBS Server, we need to specify the method of
receiving incoming e-mail when we are running CEICW. To do so:

1. Click Start, click Server Management.

2. Click To Do List and then click "Connect to the Internet".

3. Go to the Internet E-mail page, select "Enable Internet e-mail" and
click Next.

4. Select either "Use DNS to route e-mail" or "Forward all e-mail to e-mail
server at your ISP"(smarthost). If you select the latter, enter the ISP
SMTP server. Click Next.

5. Specify to receive e-mail using one or both of the following methods:

- POP3 Mailboxes (POP3 Connector)
- Exchange (SMTP service)

Click Next.

6. Enter your e-mail domain name and click Next. The e-mail domain name
should match the mail exchanger (MX) resource record maintained at your
ISP. This must be a registered Internet domain name.

7. Go through the steps to finish the wizard.

Please feel free to take your time to implement these settings, and then
help me gather more information for further analysis:

Please download ExchDump tool from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=d88b807d-964e-4bf8-
9344-754892e9f637&displaylang=en. Then, create a folder named ExchDump on
the Exchange 2003 server, copy the ExchDump.exe tool to this folder. Run
cmd to open the command prompt line window and enter the ExchDump folder.
Run the following command:

ExchDump /all

After the command is completed, two files (Summary_<ServerName>.htm and
ull_<ServerName>.txt) will be created in the same folder. Please send these
two files to me.

Best regards,

Nathan Liu (MSFT)
