Steve:

Based on the above, you are setting your router's IP to be within the
subnet of the SBS *internal* (LAN) NIC. That's not what you want. You
want to set the router's IP to be within the subnet of the SBS
*external* (WAN) NIC, and connect the router between the cable modem and
the external NIC.

The router should have DHCP enabled, but exclude 10 or so addresses.
Your external SBS NIC address should be within the excluded range so it
can remain static.

Then, follow Merv's recommendations.
