I've read a few articles posted here but we have a new SBS 2003 we just got installed over the past few months. I've taken my time to try and learn so I thought I'd get email working. I've ran the ICW to setup email, successfully, and can send outbound to anyone. I've confirmed the MX record thru DNSSTUFF.COM so I think everything is pointed correctly. Network Solutions has the DNS setup to my local ISP. The firewall is a PIX which is setup to allow smtp traffic by default and has proved to be true in the past. When I send a test email from my work account to the new Exchange box, the log files indicate that it "Can not commuicate with Server". If someone could help I would be very greatful. I can provide more information if needed, but if someone could give me I ideas I'll keep trying. thanks in advance...
There are too many possibilities at the moment. Does the firewall keep logs, and if so, can you set it to log successful port 25 connections?
The question at the moment is whether mail is even getting as far as your firewall. Some ISPs block port 25.
If the firewall is receiving port 25 messages, there are other ways of testing SMTP servers. Can you try this from another location?

Once you know where the blockage is, it shouldn't be too hard to fix. .
