Hi Jack,
Thanks for using the SBS newsgroup.
>From your description, I understand the issue to be: users can not access
the ISP POP 3 mailbox and receive "Access is denied" error message. If I am
off base, please don't hesitate to let me know.
Before we go further, please kindly help me collect some information to
isolate the issue:
1. Which type of the mailbox? Individual mailbox or Global mailbox?
2. Please try to access the ISP POP mailbox using telnet command, and paste
the result in the newsgroup. Please refer to the following article to
process:
165186 XFOR: Verifying Basic POP3 Connectivity Using Telnet
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=165186
3. Please try to use Outlook Express to retrieve the mail from it, what is
the result?
4. Does the issue happen on all user account? Please try to use deferent
user accounts to test the issue, what is the result?
5. Please set Logging level of the POP3 Connector to Maximum to get more
verbose information. To do so:
a. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange and then
click System Manager.
b. Expand Connectors, right-click POP3 Connector Manager and click
Properties.
c. On the Troubleshooting tab, set Logging level to Maximum.
d. Click OK.
e. Restart the Microsoft Connector for POP3 Mailboxes. To do so:
A. Click Start, point to Administrative Tools and click Services.
B. Locate and right-click the Microsoft Connector for POP3 Mailboxes
service, click Restart.
f. On Exchange System Manager right-click POP3 Connector Manager and click
Properties, on the Scheduling tab, click Retrieve Now.
g: Wait for 20 minutes and please send the application logs to me at
v-yanniw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
I appreciate your time! I am happy to be off assistance to you and look
forward to your reply!
Have a nice day!
Sincerely,
