Hi Calvin,
Thanks for using the SBS newsgroup.
>From your description, I understand the issue to be: the Pop3 connector
Manager Configuration wizard disappears after some time. If I am off base,
please let me know.
For current situation, let us perform a clean boot to isolate the issue.
Also please temporarily disable the Symantec Antivirus to test.
A Clean Boot will allow us to isolate any device drivers or programs that
are loading at startup that may be causing a conflict with other device
drivers or programs that are installed in your computer.
1) Run MSCONFIG.EXE.
2) In the Services tab, click "Hide All Microsoft Services" and click
"Disable All".
3) In the Startup tab, click "Disable All". Click OK. (This will
temporarily prevent third-party programs from running automatically during
start-up.)
4) Restart the computer and check whether the problem still persists.
If the problem does not occur, it indicates that the problem is related to
one application or service we have disabled. You can use the MSCONFIG tool
again to re-enable the disabled item one by one to find out the culprit.
What is the result?
If the issue persists, please I''d like to suggest that you follow the
instruction below to manually reinstall POP3 connector to see if it helps:
1. Rename the POP folder to POP.old in the following location:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Small Business Server\Networking
2. Use regedit, locate the "POP3 Connector" key in the following location:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SmallBusinessServer\Network
3. Export the "POP3 Connector" key to the desktop as a backup. Delete the
"POP3 Connector" key and close the registry editor.
4. In Windows Explorer, show hidden and system files by going to "Tools",
"Folder Options" and "Views", and unhide the hidden files, as well as the
system files.
5. Search for and delete all SITxxxxx.tmp folders
6. Manually execute the POP3.MSI file from the SBS 2003 CD #3, \SBS\POP3
folder. This should show the "Preparing to install" and then some actual
install progress going on.
If the issue persists, we may need to reinstall the network components
1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove
Programs.
2. Select Windows Small Business Server 2003 and then click
Change/Remove. The Setup Wizard appears.
3. Click Next to start the wizard.
4. On the Windows Configuration page, click Next.
5. On the Component Selection page, in the Action column, change
Server Tools to Maintenance, change Network component to Reinstall, and
then click Next.
6. On the Component Summary page, click Next.
7. Click Finish.
8. Restart the server to take effect of the change after the
installation process.
And then please try to test the issue again, what is the result?
Hope above information helps! I am happy to be off assistance to you and
look forward to your reply!
Have a nice day!
Sincerely,
Jenny Wu
