Hello Paul,

Thank you for posting in the SBS newsgroup.

I am sorry for the delay in responding due to weekend, thanks for the
understanding.

Please note the partner managed newsgroups are staffed weekdays by
Microsoft Support professionals. Our goal is to provide a one business day
response to all posts.

For time critical issues (not business down), we encourage you to contact

To continue working with me in the newsgroups, please see the following:

According to your description, I understand that the Remote Access Wizard
fails on the SBS 2003 Server with ISA Server 2004. If I have misunderstood
the problem, please don't hesitate to let me know.

In order to narrow down this issue, please kindly answer and perform the
following questions and steps:

1. I have checked the rraslog.txt log, and found the following
information:

===================
*** Running IExpress to build the package returned ERROR 80004005
*** ERROR: Cannot delete temp directory CMP8.tmp
Specifying error location (in CMAK) returned OK
*** CRRASCommit::CommitCMAK returned ERROR 80004005
*** CRRASCommit::CommitEx returned ERROR 80004005
===================

Based on my experience, this issue can occur if you only apply Windows
Server 2003 SP1 not SBS 2003 SP1.

As you mentioned, you are running the SBS 2003 Server with ISA 2004 Server,
can I assume you are using SBS 2003 Premium Server with SP1?

If not, please kindly refer to the following information to apply SBS 2003
SP1:

After SBS 2003 is installed, re-run CEICW and then run the Configure Remote
Access wizard.

2. As you mentioned, when you log in the RWW, and only 2 options:
Connect to Server and Connect to Clients. Let's check the following
settings:

1) Please re-run CEICW, on the "Web Services Configuration" page, click
"Allow access to only the following Web site services from the Internet",
click to select the check boxes of the services and of the Web sites that
you want to make accessible from the Internet (i.e. Outlook Web Access,
Remote Web Workplace, Outlook Mobile Access, Outlook via the Internet,
Business Web site (wwwroot), etc.), and then click "Next", then follow the
instruction finish this wizard.

2) If the authenticated user is only a member of Web Workplace Users
group but not the Administrators group, the user is presented with the
Knowledge Worker Web Page. It contains a welcome message, a sign out link,
and links to SharePoint, Outlook Web Access, Client Help, and Computer
Desktop, and Terminal Server. It also has a link to download Connection
Manager. If any of these features are not installed, the link will not be
displayed.

"RPC"=dword:00000001

Note: If the dword value is 00000001, this link will be displayed, if the
dword value is 00000000, this link will be hid.

3) The Administrator Web Page is shown to all users belonging to the
Domain Admins group. All possible links, grouped into Administrative Tasks
and Additional Links, are available to administrators from this page,
except the server reports. These links are only available if you publish
them using CEICW.

3. As you mentioned, you can successfully connect to the server, but not
the clients. Considering the current condition, let's first focus on the
Remote Access Wizard failing issue, after it is solved, we will continue
troubleshooting the following issue. Thanks for the understanding.

If the issue persists, please kindly help me collect the following
information and send them to my mailbox: v-natliu@xxxxxxxxxxxxx for further
analysis:

1. C:\Windows\KB885918.log

2. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Integration\Windows Small Business Server
2003\Logs

3. Remote Access: %sbsprogramdir%\Support\rraslog.txt

I appreciate your time and cooperation. Please do not hesitate to let me
know if you have any further concerns, I am looking forward to hearing from
you.

Best regards,

Nathan Liu (MSFT)
