RE: backup fail

Hi,

Thanks for your update.

I am sorry for the delayed response due to weekend. Please understand that
the newsgroups are staffed weekdays by Microsoft Support professionals to
answer your systems and applications questions. Your understanding is
greatly appreciated!

This problem may be related to the Site Server ILS so I do suggest you
uninstall it to see if it helps. You can refer to the following steps:

1.. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
2.. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
3.. Click Add/Remove Windows Components.
4.. Under Components, click Networking Services (but do not click to
clear
the check box), and then click Details.
5.. Under Subcomponents of Networking Services, click to clear the Site
Server ILS Services check box, click OK, and then click Next.
6.. Click Finish.

Then test the issue, how about the result?

If the issue persists, please try to use ESEUTIL utility to remount the
information store to see if the issue be fixed:

1. Dismount the information store
2. Make an offline backup of priv1.edb and priv1.stm, but make sure you
have 110% of the database size available on the same partition
3. Run c:\exchsrvr\bin\eseutil /r x:\exchsrvr\mdbdata\priv1.edb or
c:\exchsrvr\bin\eseutil /r /ispriv (depending on your exchange version)
4. Remount your information store

How about the result?

Can I confirm with you that the issue happens when you use the SBS backup
wizard to backup?

If yes, I would like to suggest you reinstall the SBS backup component to
make every thing goes well. You can refer to the following steps to process:

We need first change the regedit as the following:

On the server, run "regedit" (without quotation marks), rename
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\smallbusinessserver\backup and
%systemroot%\Program Files\Microsoft Small Business Server\Backup

Then you can refer to the steps below:

1) Run the SBS integrated setup by clicking ''Change/Remove'' for the
''Windows Small Business Server 2003'' item in ''Add/Remove Programs''.

2) Select ''Reinstall'' next to ''Server Tools''. Select ''NONE'' next
to ''Intranet'', ''Monitoring'', ''Networking'', ''Administration'', and
''Client Deployment''.

3) Reboot when prompted once the installation is finished.

After reinstall the component, please try to check the backup snap in on
server management console, does the issue disappears?

I appreciate your time!

Have a nice day!

Sincerely,

Jenny Wu
