RE: Pop3 connector stops downloading after a 36 hours or so

HI,

Welcome to SBS newsgroup.

Issue description:
=============

I understand that you encountered error when using POP3 connectors to
download the emails from ISP.

Analyzing and suggestion:
===============

1. To confirm the remote POP3 server is working fine, I would suggest you
to use Outlook Express to retrieve the mail from it. Is there any issue?
2. I would suggest deleting this POP3 connector for this user mailbox and
recreating it. Is there any improvement?
3. If the problem persists, you may also want to set Logging level of the
POP3 Connector to Maximum to get more verbose information. To do so:

a. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange and then
click System Manager.
b. Expand Connectors, right-click POP3 Connector Manager and click
Properties.
c. On the Troubleshooting tab, set Logging level to Maximum.
d. Click OK.
e. Restart the Microsoft Connector for POP3 Mailboxes. To do so:
A. Click Start, point to Administrative Tools and click Services.
B. Locate and right-click the Microsoft Connector for POP3 Mailboxes
service, click Restart.
f. On Exchange System Manager right-click POP3 Connector Manager and click
Properties, on the Scheduling tab, click Retrieve Now.
A. g: Wait for 20 minutes and please send the application logs to me at
v-chayan@xxxxxxxxxxxxx

I appreciate your understanding on this issue, although I know you have
turn on the POP3 logging, please also send me the application log for
further troubleshooting.

Best regards,

Charles Yang (MSFT)

| Hello,
|
| We have a problem with the Pop3 connector. After a reboot it downloads
for a
| while (max is about 40 hours) and then gets to the point where it issue
| message 1030, successful logon, xx messages found, then immediately
issues
| error 1028 message The downloading process for mailbox <default+domain
name
| .co.uk [mpop.netlink.co.uk]> was ended with one or more errors. There are
no
| other message. All error logging has been turned on to maximum
| This will then continue until we reboot the server. I've tried to stop
and
| start all exchange services the pop connector but all to no avail
| Anybody seen this before ?
| We have all the latest updates (except for exhange SP2, which I am going
to
| put on this weekend), and there is no correlation between when this
problem
| started (About Mid-November) and any changes to the server.
| Thank you
|
