RE: add a new website to share point problem

HI Michael,

Welcome to SBS newsgroup.

Issue description:
==============

I understand that you want to know why you can not create a virtual
directory under companyweb.

Analyzing and suggestion:
================

Generally speaking, we do not recommend create a virtual directory manually
under the companyweb, it will interrupt the function of companyweb. That
why we suggest you create a virtual directory via sharepoint administration
website.

By default, under the default website, we can use the way you said to
create a website. Here I want to know why you want to create virtual
directory under the companyweb, why not create a new website, so could you
clarify your goal, so that we may find some good workaround for you.

Here I would like to give you some general information about create website
on IIS:

you have any further concerns. Please feel free to let me know the results.
I am glad to be of assistance.

| Hi,
| I need to add website to share point.
| I right click on companyweb add new virtual directory. in alias type
| "intranet". Provide path to directory
| that contains index.html. Wizard ends succesfully.
| when typing http://companyweb/intranet cannot find page.
| What to check?
| When used Intranet manager wizard "Create", at the end it pushes me to
choose
| a template. But I don't need any template I have a ready website.
|
| I need to provide to users access to the site.
| What will be the simplest and right way to accomplish that?
| Presently my site is in WWW directory. When I click index.html the site
is
| fully functional.
|
| Thanks,
| Michael.
