Dear Customer,
Thank you for posting to the SBS Newsgroup.
>From your description, I understand that the some content will be missing
in the incoming and outgoing faxes. If I have misunderstood your issue,
please let me know.
Basically, in SBS 2003, we still require RTC. This is required as per the
T.4 protocol. We need at least 2 consecutive EOL's for RTF. But as per spec
we need 6. We will tolerate only if at least 2 EOL's are there.
Based on my research, there are various factor can cause the issue:
a. Line Noise. Try a dedicated analog telephone line and test the issue
again.
b. Line Noise on host side, so may be we cannot receive the RTC command.
c. Could be a compression issue on the fax modem. Try to disable
compression on the modem and test the issue again.
In order to supplement your description, I need your help to gather the
following information:
1. When did the issue occur? Could you send and receive correctly before?
Did you make any changes on the SBS 2K3 Server, recently?
2. Does this issue occur to all domain clients or only certain clients?
3. Does this issue occur to all senders/recipients or only certain?
4. What are the exact model and brand of the fax modems you are using now?
5. In order to reproduce your issue on my test machine, I need to gather
following information:
a. What is the fax software you are using on the problematic SBS 2K3
Server?
b. How did you send and receive fax?
c. Please explain in detail "Office FAX able to function without problems".
Do you mean send/receive in Word?
6. On the problematic client workstation, can you send a fax through Start
-> All programs -> Accessories -> Communications -> Fax -> Send a fax?
Please take your time to gather the information for research. I am looking
forward to hearing from you!
Best regards,
Brandy Nee
