Hi,
Thanks for using the SBS newsgroup.
>From your description, I understand the issue to be: the security tab of
files or folders may be missing on the SBS 2003 server box. If I am off
base, please let me know.
Please check the following factors:
1. Is the drive which contains those files and folders NTFS format? If not,
it is normal behavior that has not security tab. You can check the drive
system format by right click the drive to open its Properties page.
2. Please ensure the server box is not suffering Virus.
If it is not the situation, based on my experience, the security tab may be
missing for the following factors:
1. There are settings like Simple File Sharing or Group Policy that prevent
the tab from showing up.
2. The security tab related registry keys are corrupt.
However, please note that if the computer is a member of a domain, the
Simple File Sharing is forced to turn off. Therefore, let's check the
Group Policy and related Registry keys.
Group Policy
===============
1. Click start -> Run, type "gpedit.msc" (without quotation mark) and then
click OK.
2. Locate the "Remove Security tab" policy under
User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows
Explorer
3. Double click this policy and set it to "Not Configured" or "Disabled"
4. Click Apply and click OK.
5. Restart computer and test the issue again.
6. If the issue persists, please try the next method.
Note: You may also find and delete the policy-related entry "NoSecurityTab"
from the following registry key:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explor
er]
Corrupted Registry keys
===============
1. Click start -> Run, type "regsvr32 rshx32.dll" (without quotation mark)
and then click OK.
Note: The rshx32.dll file should be locates in: C:\Windows\system32\
2. When you receive the following message, click OK:
DllRegisterServer in rshx32.dll succeeded.
3. Restart computer and then test the issue again.
Hope above information helps! I am happy to be of assistance to you and
look forward to your reply!
Have a nice day!
Sincerely,
Jenny Wu
