HI,
Thanks for your email, here I would like to answer your question one by one:
1. If you DNS works fine, we do not need to change it.
2. For the POP3 connectors, let me clarify it more clearly, POP3 connectors
is used to receive emails from ISP side, the emails received by the POP3
connectors, did not related with the emails on the Exchange side. From your
screenshot, I am a little confused, could you tell us why you did not
select Exchange for emails, if you did not check it, it means you could not
send the internet emails via Exchange server, but the POP3 connectors will
not do anything with sending outbound emails. So I suggest you contact with
your ISP to make sure that you can use smarthost on ISP to relay for
internet emails, (Then you need to check using Exchange for emails on CEICW.
3. For ISA 2004 rules, I am not sure how you configured your ISA firewall,
but we would like to know if you have those firewall policies on ISA 2004
firewall policy node. If no SBS related policy there, you have to reinstall
ISA 2004 on your SBS 2003. It should recover all SBS related policy.
I appreciate your effort here, please feel free to let me know the results.
I am glad to be of assistance.
Best regards,
Charles Yang (MSFT)

| HI Barry,
|
| Thanks for your question.
|
|
| Let me clarify it more clearly:
|
| 1. From your CEICW log, we can see you want to configure your Exchange as
| your mailbox store, so that you can use your ISP mail server as a relay
| server to send and receive the email from your domain. So we can assume
| that you are using Exchange to send and receive internet email, so I
| suggest you rerun CEICW to remove any setting on the POP3 connector. As
you
| receive email via smarthost also, the ISP do not push any email through
| POP3 connectors, from your event log, we can see many error relate to
POP3
| connector, it even do not receive any emails from your ISP. (Please
ignore
| the routing rules, as you do not need to use POP3 connector)
| 2. For outbound email, as you have a domain named SMTP.ISP.com, you must
| contact with your ISP to register this name on their DNS server, so that
| the ISP can help you send and receive email, this should be done on ISP
| side. (The ISP will recognize your Exchange server, so that your Exchange
| server will be authenticated to send and receive emails)
|
|
| Hope the above information clear your issue, please feel free to post
back
| if you have any further concerns.
|
|
|
| Best regards,

| |
| | 1) I don't understand the where to check and what to check regarding
the
| | "Routing Rule", can you explain and advise further.
| |
| | 2) I have a number of SBS working fine with ISA 2000, however this new
| | installation with ISA 2004 is problematic, on all of the successful
| | installations all I set is the outgoing mail server provided by my ISP
| | smtp.ISP.com, where does the MX record come into the equation?
| |
| | As a note, Authentication for my ISP's smtp mail server is done by IP
| | address/range.
