Hello Mike,

Thank you for posting in the SBS newsgroup.

Also, many thanks for Claus's input.

According to your description, I understand that when a user adds an event to the Companyweb calendar, Internet Explorer crashes. If I have misunderstood the problem, please don't hesitate to let me know.

First of all, please kindly note if the issue only occurs with one specific user account, it is most likely a client side issue. In order to narrow down this issue, please kindly answer and perform the following questions and steps:

1. Does this issue also occur when the specific user account is accessing other web sites?

2. What version of the Internet Explorer? What OS is running on the problematic workstation?

3. Please disable this "Show friendly HTTP error messages" option in the IE, to do so, open Internet Explorer. Click Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced, uncheck "Show friendly HTTP error messages". Then reproduce this issue, what's the exact error message? Please make a screen shot of the error message and attach the file in your reply.

To do this, please follow the steps below:

a) When the screen appears, press PrScrn (this key is located to the right of the F12 key on the keyboard)
b) Create a new Word document and open it.
c) Press Ctrl + V to paste the screen shot into the document.
d) Send this document as the mail's attachment to my working mailbox: v-natliu@xxxxxxxxxxxxx

4. Additionally, please also perform the following testing to check if the issue can be reproduced:

Suggestion 1: Clean boot
================
Please boot into Safe Mode with Network to see if the problem exists. If it doesn''t, please perform the clean boot to find the cause. To do that, please follow the steps below:

Note: I do not know what the OS you are using. If you are using Windows 2000, please copy Msconfig.exe from the Windows XP machine and then perform the following steps:

1. Click Start, click Run, type "msconfig" (without the quotation marks) in the Open box, and then click OK.
2. In the Startup tab, click the "Disable All" button.
3. In the Services tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" checkbox, and then click the "Disable All" button.
4. Click OK and restart your computer.

Suggestion 2:
=================
Since this issue happens to IE, I think restore IE default settings is needed.

1. Delete the cookies
1) Click Start, click Search and click For Files or Folders
2) Type "Cookies" (without the quotation marks) and click Search Now
3) Delete files in the cookie directory
2. Delete all the temporary files
1) Open Internet Explorer
2) Click Tools, click Internet Options and click Delete Files button in the General tab
3. Delete the downloaded objects
1) Open Internet Explorer
2) Click Tools, click Internet Options and click settings button in the General tab.
3) Press View Objects.
4) Remove all the Objects there.
4. Remove the Plug-Ins in Internet Explorer
1) Close all the Internet Explorer windows.
2) Open a Windows Explorer window by right Click My Computer and choose Explore.
3) Locate the following folder:
C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\PLUGINS
4) Remove all the files in this folder.
5. Delete SoftwareDistribution folder
1) Stop Automatic Updates service.
a. Click Start, click Run, type services.msc.
b. In the right pane, stop the Automatic Updates service.
2) Delete C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder.
3) Test the issue again.
6. Reset all settings of Internet Explorer
1) Under the General tab, click Clear history button.
2) Under the Security tab, click Default Level button.
3) Under the Content tab. Under Content Advisor the button default is "Enable..." Click on "Clear SSL" under Certificates, and click on "OK." 4) Under "Local Area Network (LAN) settings" click on the "LAN Settings..." button - remove all checkmarks and settings unless actually required to use a proxy and close the window 5) Under the Programs tab, click Reset Web Settings.
6) Under the Advanced tab, click Restore Defaults button.
Under Browsing put a checkmark into or remove the checkmark from "Enable third-party browser extensions (requires restart)".
7) Click on "Apply", then "OK" 8) Close Internet Explorer and restart the computer.

7. Disable all third party Add-ons
1) Open Internet Explorer.
2) Click Tools to select Manage Add-ons.
3) Disable all third party Add-ons.

Suggestion 3:
===================
I suspect this issue may relate to user profile, so we may create another new user profile to test.

Suggestion 4:
====================
We may use the System File Checker tool to scan all of the protected files on your computer:
1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type sfc /scannow, and then click OK.
Note that you may be prompted for the Windows XP installation media.
3. Test to determine if the issue is resolved.

Please let me know the information and results as above, so that we can perform further research on your issue. If you have any further concerns or questions, please feel free to let me know. It is always our pleasure to be of assistance.

Have a nice day!

Best regards,

Nathan Liu (MSFT)

I have a user who can logon to the companyweb calendar just fine, however, when she adds an event to the calendar, Explorer crashes. The event is recorded, but adding more than one event is quite time consuming for her. Any ideas on how to fix this?
