RE: Accessing local website from the internet

Hi Doug,

Thanks for your reply.

As I know, you may need to register a FQDN from ISP for SBS and configure
CEICW to type the FQDN as your "Web Server Certificate". Then you can
access companyweb via typing https://FQDN:444 and access RWW using
https://FQDN/remote from internet. Would you please help me confirm if the
Clubsoftware.itaustralia.info is registered on your ISP? I have tested the
FQDN and can not resolve it.

Regarding _msdcs.Clubsoftware.itaustralia.info, by default, SBS DNS Forward
Lookup zone contains _msdcs.domain.local and domain.local. When the DNS
root domain of a new Active Directory forest is created on a Windows Server
2003-based domain controller, two DNS zones are automatically created. One
zone is created for the forest root domain; this zone is replicated between
all domain controllers in that domain. The other zone is created for the
_msdcs.ForestName subdomain; this zone is stored in the forest-wide DNS
application directory partition. This partition replicates to all Windows
Server 2003-based domain controllers in the forest that are running the
Windows Server 2003 DNS Server service. A delegation zone
_msdsc.domain.local will also be created. If you manually create the DNS
zone for your domain, the _msdcs will be created under <domain>.local zone.

Hope it helps and look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,

Crina Li (MSFT)

| Hi Crina,
| Sorry to be a pain but I have followed your instructions with no luck to
date.
| Some of the instruction are written for server 2003 not SBS seems to be a
| bit different in parts.
| This is what I have
| Under computer management/services and applications/DNS
| CLUBSERVER the name of the computer/DNS server
| Forward lookup zones
| _msdcs.Clubsoftware.itaustralia.info (dont know what this is, can you
expand
| on this. In the instructions to remove the root DNS zone it refers to
"." to
| delete, is this one of the same?)
|
| Clubsoftware.itaustralia.info (the FQDN)
| I have a registed domain name of itaustralia.info the website for this
| domain is not hosted on this computer. I have just added the clubsoftware
to
| it for this exercise.
| My IP address is 202.173.181.230 when I enter this is IE from an external
| computer I get the RWW with no problems.
| When I use clubsoftware.itaustralia.info I cant connect'.
| This machine is just a test machine that I'm using to setup an intranet
for
| a client. I would like to be able to use friendly name rather than IP
| addresses for the users
|
| Are my naming conventions wrong or dose the Clubsoftware.itaustralia.info
| have to be a properly registered domain name.
