Frank,
Thank you for your reply.
The work last year was done about January 20th! That is why I didn't
insist on it being redone correctly. We simply had been down too long
and it was working... I could not say whether or not the components I
had installed by the technitian came from the SBS source disks or if he
just loaded the separate components from bulk-licensed individual disks
on hand.
I was running SBS 2000, but had a bad RAID card that was causing system
problems. I got scared of the system and copied everything over the
network to the hard drive on my workstation one weekend. Good thing,
too. When we started working on the server Monday morning, it crashed
and we lost everything. Between my tape backups and the copy I made, I
didn't lose any data. I had the technicians totally rebuild my server.
More RAM, added and better RAID controller card and an additional RAID
array, so we basically did a clean start with SBS 2003 instead of an
upgrade. We were able to copy users, mailboxes, etc. from the copy
that I made, then restore all the data from the tape backup. I was
obviously not happy that I was not able to take advantage of a clean
start for SBS 2003.
It may come to a format of the OS RAID disks and start completely
over...
I am guessing that the SBS speciallist in New York would not be
thrilled about coming to rural West Texas, lol.
Thanks,
Kurt
.
