RE: Client Shared Fax Not Sending

HI,

Welcome to SBS newsgroup.

I am sorry for the delayed response due to weekend. Please understand that
the newsgroups are staffed weekdays by Microsoft Support professionals to
answer your systems and applications questions. Your understanding is
greatly appreciated!

Issue description:
=============

I understand that you encountered problem when sending fax from client
computer.

Analyzing and suggestion:
============

Generally speaking, if the issue occurs on the client computer, the issue
might be caused by the fax application on the client computer is not
configured correctly. You can refer to my suggestion below:

1. How did you install the shared fax client software on the XP client
computer? Did you installed it from the XP disk or installed from SBS
shared folder on the server or via assign client application wizard? I
suggest you navigate to \\sbs server name\clientapps\shared fax client on
the problematic client computer and installed the fax client computer
again.
2. If possible, I suggest you use outlook 2003 on the client computer to
send fax as test to see if the issue still exists or not, you can follow
the steps below:

We can use outlook on client side to send fax, in this way you can add the
all kinds of address as you like. You can refer to the following section
for detailed steps:

A. Open Outlook.

B. Type ''[FAX:xxxxxx]'' (without the quotation marks) in To bar. Input a
subject of the new fax and then edit the content. (xxxx is the destination
fax number)

C. Click ''Send'' button to send the fax.

NOTE: To use this method, please make sure ''Fax Mail Transport'' account
is in the E-mail accounts list. Click ''Tools''-->''E-mail Accounts''.
Select ''View or change existing e-mail accounts'' and click ''Next''.
''Fax Mail Transport'' should be listed in the account list.

3. Do you encounter any problem when sending fax on SBS server?
4. Could you tell us the detailed steps when you send fax through XP client
computer? Did you send the fax through the "Shared fax and printer" console
on the client computer and send the fax there?

be of further assistance.

| After connecting the client computers to the SBS2003 server and
installing
| all the applications, the printer Auto Fax on Server is added to the
printers
| list. However when sending (printing) and following wizard to send, the
fax
| is sent, but never arrives in the outbox on the server, therefore is
never
| sent. No error message on the client, and no way of tracking, or viewing.
It
| just goes to never never land. I have turned off the firewall on the
serve,
| and it the same thing happens.
| What is strange is that inbox has all the faxes received, and all can be
| viewed.
| I don't know what else to do.
|
| Any ideas?
