Wireless Clients experience great difficulity(Almost never) in obtaining ip address info from the SBS DHCP server. They can connect to the LAN when an IP address is statically assigned on the client. Clients can obtain a DHCP server assigned IP to the Wireless network adapter when a connection is made through the laptops onboard LAN adapter. Works the same wether the access point obtains its ip from the DHCP or if it is statically assigned. LAN desktop pc's have no trouble obtaining IP from DHCP server. The server is licensed for 10 clients and we would have 7 clients if all wireless clients could log on. I have two other clients with the same equipment, neither have this problems.
Could this be an ISA problem? An authentication problem? Anyone have any ideas?
Are these occasional users? If you don't connect before the lease is up, it can be difficult for non-admins to reconnect. The machine starts up with a 169. address and only an admin can either set a manual IP or issue a renew command. .
