Re: The Web site cannot be found - errors

Hi Anthony,

Thanks for posting here. Also thanks for Kevin's input.

What is the server OS version? SBS 2003 or Windows 2003? The newsgroup is
for SBS 2003 support.

If it is Windows 2003, I suggest that you post the question in Windows 2003
setup and deployment newsgroup. The reason why we recommend posting
appropriately is you will get the most dedicated pool of respondents, and
other partners who the newsgroups regularly can either share their
knowledge or learn from your interaction with us. Also, this is to make
sure that the responders can better track the problem Thank you for your
understanding.

You can visit the following link to Windows 2003 newsgroup:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/community/newsgroups/default.mspx

If it is SBS 2003 version, I would like to give you some information in
applications side not the hardware side to try to trouble shoot the issue.

Note: If any one of the following steps can resolve the issue, you do not
need to perform the rest steps.

1. Make sure you have left the Default Gateway of the internal NIC blank.
2. Make sure you have configured both the internal NIC and the external NIC
to use the internal DNS Service as the DNS Server.
3. On the DNS Server, make sure you have created the DNS Forwarder to
forward the external DNS resolution requests to the ISP's DNS server. See:

323380 How to configure DNS for Internet access in Windows Server 2003
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=323380

4. Strictly followed the instructions in the KB article below to run CEICW:

825763 How to configure Internet access in Windows Small Business Server
2003
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=825763

5. Try turning off EDNS0 support in Windows Server 2003 to see if the
problem can be resolved. To do that, please follow the steps in the KB
article below:

828731 An external DNS query may cause an error message in Windows Server
2003
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=828731

6. Try the following steps:

1) Schedule a down time.
2) Perform a backup for the System State.
3) Open Active Directory Users and Computers, and then click View |
Advanced Features.
4) Expand Internal_domain.local | System | MicrosoftDNS, and then delete
Internal_Domain.local.
5) Open DNS MMC DNS, expand forward lookup zones, click on
_msdcs.internal_domain.local, and then delete the Alias for
server.internal_domain.local (the long GUID entry).
6) Restart Netlogon Service.
7) Restart DNS Service.
8) Run "ipconfig /flushdns" and "ipconfig /registerdns" on the SBS.

If you find that the _msdcs zone is missing under internal_domain.local,
please create a new delegation by performing the following:

1) Right click on internal_domain.local, select new | delegation.
2) Click next on the wizard, type in _msdcs under delegated domain, and
then click next.
3) Click Add, browse to the server's A record under forward lookup zones,
internal_domain.local, and then click OK.
4) Click Finish.

7. Make sure you have already configure the Antivirus based on the
following KB articles:

822158 Virus scanning recommendations on a Windows 2000 or on a Windows
Server
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=822158

245822 Recommendations for troubleshooting an Exchange Server computer with
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=245822

8. Based on my experience, this issue may occur if the web site is using
SSL on a non-standard SSL port (the standard one is 443). If it is the
issue, the following article will be helpful:

283284 Blank page or page cannot be displayed when you view SSL sites
through http://support.microsoft.com/?id=283284

Hope above information helps. I am happy to be assistance of you and look
forward to your reply!

Have a nice day!

Sincerely,

Jenny Wu
