RE: Remote server management unavailable after installing latest hotfix

HI,

Thanks for updates.

After checking your portqry and netstate results, we found there is no
other process listening on port 80. We might have to gather some other
information.

1. As you said you encounter problem when accessing the SBS server via that
link, do you encountered any issue when accessing the SBS server from RWW
website?
2. If possible, could you test if you access the link from the SBS server
itself, does the issue exists or not, please also test if you can browse
the tsweb virtual directory on the IIS node on SBS server.
3. Please check the home directory of the tsweb to make sure that it is
point directly to C:\WINDOWS\web\tsweb, please also check if there are any
file on that directory.

I appreciate your effort on this issue, please also let me know the results
as your convenience. I am glad to help you.

Best regards,

Charles Yang (MSFT)

|
| HI,
|
| Thanks for your efforts.
|
| issue may occur if another application is using port 80 (i.e. another web
| server application). This may also occur if the computer does not have a
| valid IP address. Please try the steps below to troubleshoot the issue:
|
| 1. There is a new option for netstat in Win2k3. Do a "netstat -ano >
| C:\Ports.txt" to see what is listening on port 80 (the "o" option tells
us
| the PIDs). If you can see what is using port 80 that isn''t IIS consider
| stopping it.
|
| 2. Check for the existance of this key:
|
|
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\HTTP\Parameters\ListenO
| nlyList.
|
| NOTE:
|
| A. When making changes to the ListenOnlyList key always do a "net stop
| http" to stop HTTP.sys (this cannot be found in services and is not the
| same as HTTP SSL).
|
| B. If the ListenOnlyList key is not present that is the same as it being
| present with *only* 0.0.0.0.
|
| - If it is present make sure that all the IP address listed are valid.
If
| any are invalid addresses remove or fix them.
|
| - Check for applications such as "Microsoft Firewall Client" or other
| types of software that integrates with winsock.
|
| - Ensure that if 0.0.0.0 is present in the key that *nothing else* is
| present also. If there are any actual IPs listed then 0.0.0.0 will cause
| problems.
|
| This problem could also occur when other program is grabbing the 80 port.
| Please use PortQry tool to verify the port usage.
|
| a. Download Portqry command line tool from:
|
|
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=89811747-c74b-4638-
| a2d5-ac828bdc6983&DisplayLang=en
|
| Install it on the SBS 2000 box.
|
| b. Start-->Run-->cmd, in the command prompt, input the following
commands:
|
| cd \portqryv2 (This is the default install path)
| portqry -local > c:\test1.txt
|
| I appreciate your effort on this issue, please feel free to post back
your
| results. I am glad to be of assistance.

| | Hi John,
| |
| | Welcome to SBS newsgroup.
| |
| | Issue description:
| | ===============
| |
| | I understand that you encountered a problem when accessing the "remote
| | management server" from the client computer.
| |
| | Analyzing and suggestion:
| | ===============
| |
| | Did you ever run and finished the CEICW? For more info, please refer to:
| | 825763 How to configure Internet access in Windows Small Business
Server
| | 2003
| | http://support.microsoft.com/?id=825763
| |
| |
| | Now, please open IE window, type the link individually to see if they
can
| | be opened:
| |
| | http://[SBS Server]/tsweb/default.htm?autoconnect=1
| |
| | Also, I would like to know if you are opening the link from Internet or
| | from internal. If it is from internet, this behavior is by design.
These
| | Links are using a static URL that starts with HTTP://ServerName/ (Where
| | ServerName is the customer server's name). The links are created at
| install
| | time and are not dynamically modified by the code-behind on the page or
| the
| | CEICW. CompanyWeb access was originally conceived as internal access
only.
| |
| | Please also test if you can access it from SBS server? If the issue
still
| | exists even you try on the SBS server. It might be caused by the remote
| | management website corrupt or configuration is not correct.
| |
| | We suggest you first refer to my information above to make sure that
the
| | website is configured correctly.
| |
| | I really appreciate your understanding on this issue; please feel free
to
| | post back the results. I am glad to be of assistance.
| |
| |
| |
| | Best regards,
| |
| | Charles Yang (MSFT)

| | | I recently installed the two most recent security hotfixes on my
| | | SBS2003 server. After rebooting, attempts to run remote server
| | | management from a client computer result in a page 404 error.
| | | Rebooting the server again makes no difference. Is this a known
issue?
| | | What is the solution?
