Hi Paul,
Thank you for posting in SBS newsgroup.
>From your description, I understand you want to connect to external ODBC
SQL server though SBS with ISA2004. If I have misunderstood your concerns,
please do not hesitate to let me know.
To make the client access normally to external ODBC source, you may need to
configure a protocol definition and a access rule on ISA. You also need to
configure the client computer. For detailed information, please refer to
the following KB article:
837740 How to configure ISA Server 2004 and SQL Server Enterprise Manager to
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=837740
Hope the information help and I look forward to your reply.
Best regards,
Crina Li (MSFT)

| I am trying to access an external SQL server via ODBC thru ISA 2004. I
have
| W2K3 Premium with SP1 and have run CEICW, after that I added the 4
scripts
| from isatools.org dealing with bagle, blaster, mydoom, netsky and sasser
so
| they are the top 5 processed rules. Then I created an access rule using
the
| SQL protocol (processed 6), allowing the internal network and local host
to
| access the external network for that protocol only with, allowed with any
| source port. I still get a denied connection from live monitoring, any
idea
| what I need to do at this point? FYI, it works from behind an old linksys
FW
| but not behind ISA.
|
| Thanks for the help.
