HI AJ,
Thanks for your updates.
I am sorry for the delayed response due to weekend. Please understand that
the newsgroups are staffed weekdays by Microsoft Support professionals to
answer your systems and applications questions. Your understanding is
greatly appreciated!
I understand that you want to know if you can return to the pre-crash
states after you return the Exchange database from the previous backup.
Now let me explain the backup clearly, the SBS backup and restore can help
you return every kind of system state just you running the backup, so if
you have changed anything after the last backup, the backup will not
restore it.
For the Exchange issue, as I know if we do a full system state backup, the
restore process will return all the thing to state that just before backup
we can not configure the restore process to restore part of the system
backup and we also can not control the restore process. But if it is a good
backup, it will help you restore the system to a healthy state, but the
changes you have already done after the backup have to be configure again.
Thanks for your effort here.
Best regards,
Charles Yang (MSFT)

| Hi,
|
| Even this rephrasing of the question doesn't seem clear when I reread
| it.... English is a great language--just wish I could communicate!
|
| Q. If I do a system stae restore, do I overwrite the exchange data
| files? i.e., if the user had changed something like an email address,
| will that be lost after a system state restore?
|
| There. I hope that's clear enough.
