When trying to use the wizard to setup performance monitoring and any other
monitoring the windows says SQL is not running and to start the service or
restart the computer. But SQL is running the service shows it is running
and
the icon on the bottom right of the screen says it is also started and
Exchange is working. The computer is running SBS 2003
The SBS Monitoring capabilities use their own instance of MSDE -
MSSQL$SBSMONITORING. Check the status of that rather than the default
instance of SQL. Also, you should not upgrade the Monitoring instance of
MSDE to full SQL Server.
