RE: Lost sound on my server

Hi Alan,

Thanks for posting here!

For your description, I understand that the server has problem to sound. If
I am off base, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Please follow below steps to try to resolve the issue:

1. Please first start the Windows Audio service and change the service
startup type to Automatic (input "services.msc" in command line to launch
Service console). And try to test, how is the issue?

Please refer to the following article to choose some specific multimedia
file to test:
316992 Windows Media Player multimedia file formats
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316992/

2£® Have you install appropriate mainboard chipset drivers and the sound
drivers? Please try to reinstall your mainboard chipset drivers and then
your sound drivers in that order. Try to test, how about the result?

3£®Please try to install other auto-card that from another computer that
has audio capability to test, how about the result?

4£®Please try to check if you have installed the device successfully.

a. Right-click My Computer and click Properties to open System Properties
page.
b. Click Hardware tab and click Device Manager.
c. Click the sound, video and game controllers item and have a look to see
if your audio device applet mentions the auto-card as working correctly and
that it has no yellow exclamation mark.

If has yellow exclamation mark it indicates you can not install the device
appropriately, please contact with your device vendor or download the
latest drivers from your vendor website.

If all shows correctly should be showing a volume control icon near the
clock on the lower right bar, right clicking and checking levels and mutes
would be an idea.

5£®If it is correct, but you still have no audio, please enter BIOS and
ensure the on board audio is enabled, if not you begin to reach the
assumption that you might have destructed your sound chip.

I appreciate your time and effort to perform test. I am looking forward to
you!

Have a nice day!

Sincerely,

Jenny Wu
