Hello Dodge,
Thank you for posting back!
I have received your logs files and emails. Please understand that there is
time difference between us, and as you know, SP1 log is a large file and we
need time to analysis it. Your understanding is highly appreciated!
I read though all the log files you sent me, I found following error
information in the Eventlog.txt:
[12/03/05,14:45:44] Server Configuration: ***ERRORLOG EVENT*** : An error
occured when upgrading MSDE to MSDE SP4 level. The return code is: 1603
[12/03/05,14:49:15] Server Configuration: ***ERRORLOG EVENT*** : Failed
while upgrading SharePoint or Monitoring to SP4. The error code is:
80004005
So I checked the Monitoring_MSDE.Log and found the following error:
Running upgrade script 1 of 12 (sp1_serv_uni)
Running script :
-n -b -d master -Slpc:SFCDC01\SBSMONITORING -i "C:\Program Files\Microsoft
SQL Server\MSSQL$SBSMONITORING\Install\sp1_serv_uni.sql" -o "C:\Program
Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL$SBSMONITORING\Install\sp1_serv_uni.out" -E
osql.exe did not return successfully.
First attempt at executing script sp1_serv_uni.sql failed; retrying.
Running script :
-n -b -d master -Slpc:SFCDC01\SBSMONITORING -i "C:\Program Files\Microsoft
SQL Server\MSSQL$SBSMONITORING\Install\sp1_serv_uni.sql" -o "C:\Program
Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL$SBSMONITORING\Install\sp1_serv_uni.out" -E
osql.exe did not return successfully.
Second attempt at executing script sp1_serv_uni.sql failed; aborting.
RunScripts process returned an error.
MSI (s) (98!C0) [14:45:43:468]: Product: Microsoft SQL Server Desktop
Engine (SBSMonitoring) -- Unable to run the script files
Unable to run the script files
Based on my analysis, SBS 2003 SP1 was installed successfully, except that
it failed to run the script when upgrading the SBSMONITORING instance to
MSDE SP4. Could you please zip all the files in the C:\Program
files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL$SBSMONITORING\Install folder and sent it
to me?
Thanks a lot for your time and I am looking forward to hearing from you!
Best regards,
Brandy Nee
