Dear Customer,
Thank you for posting to the SBS Newsgroup.
I understand that you cannot access server and client workstations desktops
through RWW. If I have misunderstood your issue, please let me know.
>From the information you applied, I understand that your Network Topology
is:
{Internet} {NIC1} {SBS 2K3 + ISA 2K4} {NIC2} {Internal Clients}
Also, it seems that the issue occurs when you trying to access from the
Internet remote computers.
Based on my experience, this issue can be caused by varies of factors, so
please read through all my information carefully first and then perform the
steps:
==================
Suggestions:
1. If you have a hardware firewall or router in front of the Internet
computers, make sure its OUTBOUND port 4125 is open.
[Note]: If you do not know how to open ports on firewall or router, please
contact the hardware vendor for support or refer to its manual.
2. Since you have ISA server in front of the Internet computers, make sure
ISA is also allowing OUTBOUND port 4125. I am not sure whether you have
read the following KB article, please read it carefully for more
information:
828053 ISA Server prevents connection to a remote desktop when you connect
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=828053
3. If Port 4125 is open and the issue persists, there must be some serives
listening on port 4125. Run the following command on the SBS 2003 server:
netstat -aon | find ":4125"
If something is listening on 4125, you will get a response similar to the
follwoing:
TCP 123.123.123.123 456.456.456.456 Listening "pid number"
Note that "pid number" is the process which is taking the port 4125.
Now open Task Manager, click on the Processes tab, click on the View menu
then Select Columns. Place a check next to "PID (Process dentifier)" and
click OK. Now find the process for "pid number" as identified by the
netstat command above. Restart this service or kill the task.
4. You mentioned you have run CEICW for several times, however, I am not
sure whether you have checked the box "Remote Web Workplace" in the Web
Services Configuration page.
==================
If the issue persists, please help to gather following information for us
to perform further research:
a. Will the issue occur in LAN or on Server Console?
b. Please go to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Small Business
Server\Support. Zip the icwlog.txt, and send it as attachment to my
mailbox: v-branee@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
c. As Kathy said, there is no colon in front of 4125. The command should
be:
telnet <Public IP Address> 4125
d. As you mentioned in post, you can directly RDP to Server and Client
workstations, so can you RWW -> RDP to Server and any Client workstations
desktops from any computers in LAN?
e. You mentioned "The external computer I am trying to connect from is not
XP SP2", may I know what computers they are, please? For example, Windows
2K or Windows XP SP1?
Please take your time to perform the steps above and collect the
information for us to troubleshoot your issue. If anything is unclear,
please feel free to let me know. I am looking forward to hearing from you!
Best regards,
Brandy Nee
