Either find a hardware nic [especially if it's the Internet one, you don't need a gigabit] and throw it in there, or unseat the nic card to make it 'wake up' and find new hardware, or rescan for new hardware.
There are administrator password resetting programs. Reinstalling a server when there is a deployed network is the last resort.
If you have physical access to a machine, you can reset things.

Whoa... too late now but there are ways to get into systems if you forgot a username/password
got the password/username thing worked out .... reinstalled the os ;-)
If you are setting up a clean install, go into the control panel, system, hardware and look to see if a hardware device has a "!" in it. Feed it a driver and you should then be good to go.
howevah ... in the process, i neglected to write down the name of the driver and when i go back and attempt to recreate the same scenario, i can't bring it up again ... we cannot connect the computer to the net ... it will not find, much less recognize, the nic card ....
thanks for the response ... need more input!
