RE: Publish SMTP server behind windows Small business 2003 premium

Hi Mario,

Thanks for your reply.

I have analyzed the files you have send to me, please try to move the rule
"Saferinc Smtp Outbound" to the top of the rules and check if the problem
still occurs.

Thanks for your time and I look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,

Crina Li (MSFT)

| I have a smtp server inside my lan. the sms2003 premium is hosting
another
| domain, in which exchange was configured using the "connect to the
internet
| wizard" exchange is setup to route messages directly. using the smtp
| protocol.
|
| I have publish the new smtp server on isa2004. using the publish mail
server
| wizard, i selected standard pop3 and smtp protocols, and requested
isa2004
| to listen to the specific public ip number on the external NIC which is
| registered for this second domain. and forward request to the internal pc
| running smtp server.
|
| I have also created a protocol rule on ISA2004 to allow the SMTP server
| outbound access to TCP port 25.
|
| the problem:
| The mail server is receiving messages from all over the world, but it is
not
| able to send out messages. the are all stock on the queue, the smtp
server is
| resolving the dns names for the mail server i am trying to send messages
to:
| but when it connects via smtp the connections are failing. i am sure i
have
| properly publish the smtp server on isa2004, but it seems isa is breaking
the
| smtp connection. i have the impression that ISA has an option on, that is
| breaking (stopping) this connection. that probably was created by the
connect
| to the internet wizard. this is an example of what i am seing on my
server
| while trying to deliver mail via smtp:
|
| 4:27:47 PM SMTP: [4] Connecting to 'gsmtp83.google.com' (66.249.83.27:25)
...
| 4:27:47 PM SMTP: [5] Connecting to 'mx1.mail.yahoo.com' (4.79.181.14:25)
...
| 4:27:55 PM SMTP: 2d8599c1 message - 406 s. until sending.
| 4:27:55 PM SMTP: 2d8599c3 message - 475 s. until sending.
| 4:28:03 PM SMTP: 2d8599cb message - 467 s. until sending.
| 4:28:03 PM SMTP: 2d8599d1 message - 422 s. until sending.
| 4:28:10 PM SMTP: [4] Connection to 'gsmtp83.google.com' failed.
| 4:28:10 PM SMTP: [5] Connection to 'mx1.mail.yahoo.com' failed.
|
| I have done a nslookup for mx records, and the smtp server is resolving
| without any problems for external mx records, as you can see on my log
screen
| it resolves the mx1.mail.yahoo.com server ip address.
|
| thank you guys i hope you can help me out
