RE: Client Laptop install Printer to Server

Hi Mike,

Thanks for using the SBS newsgroup!

For your description, I understand that the issue to be: the printer driver
will be installed if you connect to the SBS server box from one laptop. If
I am off base, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Based on my experience, your issue should be caused by that you have
enabled the printer redirection (print the remote document on the SBS
server to the local printer)£®You can the following settings and verified
them:

If you RDP to the server by Remote desktop connection client:

1. Launch Remote desktop connection client with the command "MSTSC" (no
quotation marks).
2. Click Options button to open connection Properties page, under local
resources tab, please check if the options of the "printers" is checked.

If you connect to the server through RWW site

1. In computer selection page of the RWW site, click Option button to
change TS options.

2. Please check if the option of "Print documents from the remote computer
to a local printer." Is checked.

If you do not need printer redirection function, please disable it when you
bring up the Remote Desktop console, or disable it in the RWW console

If you do need printer redirection function, please install the driver
manually on the SBS server.

*Note, you do not need to bring the printer to SBS site physically and
installing the driver is enough. Please refer to the following steps.

How to Add Printer Drivers
-----------------------------------------------------
a. Click Start, and then click Printers and Faxes
b. On the File menu, click Server Properties, and then click the Drivers
tab.
c. Click Add, click Next, and then follow the instructions in the Add
Printer Driver wizard.
d. Finish the wizard to install the printer driver correctly

Hope above information helps! I am happy to be assistance of you and look
forward to your reply!

Have a nice day!

Sincerely,

Jenny Wu
