Hi:
Thanks for posting here.
>From the description, I understand that some applications and AOL 9.0
cannot access the internet through ISA Server 2004. If I am off base,
please do let me know.
Before we go any further, I would like to suggest you re-run the CEICW
Wizard, please open Server Management console, navigate to 'To Do List' and
click 'Connect to the internet' in the right panel. The wizard can help us
configure the networking settings for a SBS server. It automatically
creates the ISA rules for internet access and site publishing. It's
strongly recommended to use the wizard to configure the SBS server. More
info:

2003

To allow any third-party application to connect to the internet, we can
create a new rule and allow anonymous outgoing access through the ISA
Server. Please perform the following steps to do so:
1. Please make sure the firewall client is installed on all the internal
workstations and the proxy is enabled on the workstations (Use ISA as the
proxy server).
2. Open the ISA management console, navigate to Firewall Policy, locate the
"SBS Internet Access Rule", double click it and go to the Users tab, change
the user sets from "SBS Internet Users" to "All Users".
3. Then please open the ISA2004 Management Console, in the left panel,
expand to Configuration->Networks. Under "Networks panel", double click
"Internal". Switch to "Web Proxy" panel, click "Authentication¡" and then
uncheck the "Require all users to authenticate" option. Then click the
Apply button to save the changes.

through Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2004

In addition, the ISA Server 2004 and AOL9.0 can be configured to work
together. The following article this document provides a walk-through of
the required steps:

Hope the above info helps. Please feel free to let me know if there is
anything I can do for you.
Have a nice day!
Best Regards
Edward Tian(MSFT)

| WE have a Windows Small Business Server 2003 Premium Edition with SP1 and
two
| network cards on it. We have internet access except when an application
needs
| access to the internet. For instance we have two applications that keep
an
| open connection to their website to post and retrieve updates and the
| application runs but access through that application always gives an
error
| 403 forbidden access. Also when accessing AOL version 9.0 the application
| works except if you access the internet through the application. We've
added
| application and protocol rules to ISA, checked and verified the settings
but
| still can not get access through the applications. What are we missing?
