>From your description, I understand that you have following issues on SBS
2K Server:

b. Cannot receive incoming emails, but can telnet Port 25.
c. Cannot use IE, but can ping DNS.
d. Got Event IDs 2002, 1008 and 1000 on Server.

==================================

Here, we are still glad to give general suggestions to troubleshoot your
issues:

1> I strongly suggest that we rerun the Internet Connection Wizard. please
see my following general steps:

1. Open SBS Administrator Console.

2. Click To Do List, and then click Connect to Internet to launch ICW.

3. On the Welcome to the Small Business Server Internet Connection Wizard
page, click Next.

4. Configure the hardware, and then click Configure Full-time Broadband
Connection.

5. Configure networking adapters:

In the upper window, click the adapter with the internal IP address.
In the lower window, click the adapter with the external IP address to the
Internet.

6. Specify your ISP connection information:

Default Gateway: (provided by ISP or obtained automatically)
Primary DNS server address: (provided by ISP)
Secondary DNS server address (optional): (provided by ISP)

Note: These values populate the DNS Forwarders boxes, not the DNS in the
TCP/IP Advanced properties.

7. Configure Internet mail settings:

Exchange Server: Use SMTP for Internet mail.
POP3: Disable POP3 electronic messaging*.

8. Follow the instruction to finish the Wizard.

For more detailed steps, please refer to the following KB articles:

2> Generally speaking, for the Performance Counter Library issue, we can
perform the steps in the following KB articles to rebuild them:

300956 How to manually rebuild Performance Counter Library values
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=300956

However, if you found there are many errors regarding the Performance
Counter Library (perflib), the problem may be caused by some third party
drivers, services or the applications based on my experience. If possible,
I recommend you perform the following steps before rebuilding the counters:

1. Schedule a down time.

2. Make sure you have applied the following update:

Small Business Server 2000 Service Pack 1a
http://www.microsoft.com/sbserver/downloads/sp1a.asp

3. Perform a clean boot:

a. Download and Run MSCONFIG.EXE.

Update for Windows XP (KB906569)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=9689f6e9-aded-44b8-
bbbb-beae1b4a4bc9&displaylang=en

b. In General tab, click to select Selective Startup, and then uncheck Load
Startup Item.

c. Click Services tab, click to select "Hide All Microsoft Services", and
then click Disable.

d. Click OK button to reboot the machine.

e. After the reboot, please check if the same errors occur.

3> Download and install the latest firmware for the network on the SBS 2000
from the manufacturers' web sites.

4> Please follow the steps below to reset IE settings:

1. Open Windows Explorer and find the C:\Program Files\Internet
Explorer\PLUGINS folder.

2. Create a new folder on the desktop and move all the plug-ins in the
PLUGINS folder to the new folder.

3. Open Control Panel->Internet Options.

4. On the General tab, click Delete Files within the Temporary Internet
files section.

5. Select the Delete all offline content check box, click OK.

6. Click Delete Cookies, and click OK.

7. Click Clear History within the History section, click Yes.

8. Click Security tab, select the sites and click "Default Level" for each
kind of sites.

9. Click the Advanced tab and uncheck Enable third-party browser
extensions.

10. Click OK.

11. Locate and delete the following registry key.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browse
r Helper Objects.

12. Find and delete all the Sub keys in the following registry key (do not
delete the following registry key).

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Plugins\Extension
