RE: LDAP & Find People not working

HI,

Thanks for updates.

>From your description, it seems you did not check the KB article how to use
LDAP, as I know we can not use the LDAP directly via LDAP://IP address, you
need to refer to the KB article below to know how to use LDAP:

224543 Using Ldp.exe to Find Data in the Active Directory
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=224543

I appreciate your understanding on this issue, please feel free to post
back any progress. I am glad to be of assistance.

Best regards,

Charles Yang (MSFT)

| Hello Charles,
|
| Thank you for your prompt reply! :-)
|
| To answer your queries.
|
| Yes, the scanner is on the local area network, so as you indicated below,
I
| should not need to open those ports.
|
| The scanner is configured for DHCP therefore it has an IP address of
| 192.168.2.26. Our SBS server has an internal IP address of
192.168.2.101.
| The scanner is configured to point to the serverâ??s internal IP for DNS.
|
| With regards to doing a search in FIND PEOPLE, I followed the
instructions
| in article # 220594 and that does work.
|
| So I wonder why the scanner does not see the LDAP server (192.168.2.101).

| Is there anything I have to do in Exchange?
|
| I ran the CEICW wizard again but the problem still persists.
|
| I will give you more information on the scanner set-up screen.
|
| There is an area called â??Addressing Settingsâ??. I have turned on the
option
| for ALLOW DEVICE TO DIRECTLY ACCESS AN LDAP ADDRESS BOOK. Then in that
| section I set the LDAP SERVER BIND METHOD to Anonymous. Below
Credentials I
| then leave it at to USE DEVICE USERâ??S CREDENTIALS. I enter the IP
address of
| the LDAP server to 192.168.2.101 and leave the port at 389. I then click
on
| FIND server but then I get the message back saying: No LDAP Servers
found on
| the network.
|
| I change the CREDENTIALS option to USE PUBLIC CREDENTIALS and enter a
| username of ADMINISTRATOR (also tried CSM\Administrator â?? domain in
there),
| enter the password and try again but with no luck. Also changed the LDAP
| Server Bind Method to Simple on this option but again no luck.
|
| Iâ??m totally stumped! I just sent an email to HP tech support to see
what
| they can suggest and in the meantime, if you have any more suggestions
please
| send them my way. ;-)
|
| Thank you very much for your assistance.
