RE: LDAP & Find People not working

Hello Charles,

Thank you for your prompt reply! :-)

To answer your queries.

Yes, the scanner is on the local area network, so as you indicated below, I
should not need to open those ports.

The scanner is configured for DHCP therefore it has an IP address of
192.168.2.26. Our SBS server has an internal IP address of 192.168.2.101.
The scanner is configured to point to the server’s internal IP for DNS.

With regards to doing a search in FIND PEOPLE, I followed the instructions
in article # 220594 and that does work.

So I wonder why the scanner does not see the LDAP server (192.168.2.101).
Is there anything I have to do in Exchange?

I ran the CEICW wizard again but the problem still persists.

I will give you more information on the scanner set-up screen.

There is an area called “Addressing Settings”. I have turned on the option
for ALLOW DEVICE TO DIRECTLY ACCESS AN LDAP ADDRESS BOOK. Then in that
section I set the LDAP SERVER BIND METHOD to Anonymous. Below Credentials I
then leave it at to USE DEVICE USER’S CREDENTIALS. I enter the IP address of
the LDAP server to 192.168.2.101 and leave the port at 389. I then click on
FIND server but then I get the message back saying: No LDAP Servers found on
the network.

I change the CREDENTIALS option to USE PUBLIC CREDENTIALS and enter a
username of ADMINISTRATOR (also tried CSM\Administrator – domain in there),
enter the password and try again but with no luck. Also changed the LDAP
Server Bind Method to Simple on this option but again no luck.

I’m totally stumped! I just sent an email to HP tech support to see what
they can suggest and in the meantime, if you have any more suggestions please
send them my way. ;-)

Thank you very much for your assistance.

Tammy
