OK, we won't need to go there, then.
Look for any third party apps that could block ports. Look in the XP
firewall settings. Look in properties of My Computer Remote tab and see that
Remote Desktop is allowed, and that a user and administrator have
permissions.
If it's none of those, then we're into the local security policy. (what OU
is the computer located in in ADUC?)
Note that these problems generally aren't present when you use
/connectcomputer to join the network.
