HI RA,

Thanks for updates.

I am glad to hear that the issue was resolved by your effort. We suggest
you post the new question to a new post so that it will also help the other
find the right solution for the special issue.

Here I would like to give you some suggestion on this issue, it seems it is
an OEM version; it might be different with retailed version. I will also
perform some research on this issue. As I know, your issue might be caused
by some file is missing but not the DLL file (which need to be registered
after copy from CD), so if you copy it from the OEM CD, the problem was
resolved.

For backup issue, I am sorry for any inconvenient, as I know if you make
sure that the backup failed because of the disk is full, the problem might
be caused by the backup log did not point the right error, we also
encountered similar issue. We will forward this issue to our Dev team to
see if there are any improved on the future version. By default, the
NTbackup will not report to the disk is full. And if the backup wizard will
not prompt for a new tape, it is the by design issue.

You can refer to the KB article below:

239892 How to schedule unattended backups using a stand-alone tape library
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=239892

I appreciate your understanding, please feel free to post back. I am glad
to be of assistance.

Best regards,

Charles Yang (MSFT)

| Hi Charles,
|
| I made the registry change, and renamed the folder as well, as you
| mentioned, but still didn't get a reinstall option.
| I ended up copying the content of another OEM sbs 2003 server we have in
| another office, and now it displays the reports, but I just wanted to
| know if that was the wrong thing to do ??
| But I'm constantly getting job failures, and I'm not sure why, the logs
| aren't clear enough about what went wrong.
| Last time this happened was when the tape was full, but I thought it
| would prompt for another tape, not just give an error??
| The amount we are backup up is 128G to a 100G uncompressed Ultrium tape,
| so it might be getting full again.
|
| cheers
| RA
| PS should I mention the new problem in a new post ?? or is it ok if it
| stays part of this one ??
