RE: Windows Messenger - Auto Log Off



Hi Peter,

Thank you for posting in SBS 2003 newsgroup.

For your description, I understand that the server box gets 1045 and 2
error event on the SBS 2003 premium server after upgraded to Windows
Messenger 5. If I am off base, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Let"s perform the following tests to try to resolve the issue:

I. Please perform the following steps to check network connection
configuration, especially configure related ports in the ISA firewall:

1. Leave the Default Gateway of the internal NIC blank of the server box.
2. Configure the internal client computer's NIC and the internal NIC of the
server box to use the internal DNS Service (the internal NIC IP) as the DNS
Server.

3. Strictly followed the instructions in the KB article below to rerun ICW:

825763 How to configure Internet access in Windows Small Business Server
2003

Then try to monitor the server log to see if the issue be fixed.

II. If the issue persists, please refer to the following KB article to
reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).

If the issue persists, please follow below KB article to remove and
reinstall TCP/IP protocol.

Then restart the Exchange server to see if the windows messenger issue be
fixed.

If the issue persists, please help me collect the following information for
analyze:

Please compress and email me the following log files:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Integration\Windows Small Business Server
2003\Logs folder

To save a text copy of Application /System log:

A. Open Event Viewer: Start -> All Programs -> Administrative Tools ->
Event Viewer.
B. Right-click on Application/System log and select "Save Log File As?".
