Hello Shaun,
Thank you for posting back!
Thanks a lot for your backup logs and Event Logs. I notice following error
information:
Error: The device reported an error on a request to write data to media.
Error reported: Unknown error.
There may be a hardware or media problem.
Please check the system event log for relevant failures.
The operation was ended.

I suggest that you have a look at the following KB article and apply the
hotfix.

However, the information in your reply is still not sufficient to determine
whether this is a hardware or SBS issue, so please help to gather ALL the
information below which I have required in my previous replies for further
research. I greatly appreciated your co-operation!
1. What is the exact brand and model of the tape drive you use?
2. Does this Backup log generated by running Backup Wizard or NTBackup?
3. When did the issue occur? Could you successfully run Backup before? Did
you make any changes or install any software on the server, recently?
4. If you manually run NTbackup to local drive, will this issue occur? This
information is very important for us to isolate your issue. to do so,
please see:
a. Click Start, click Run, type ntbackup, and then press Enter. The Backup
or Restore Wizard launches.
b. On the Welcome to the Backup or Restore Wizard page, click Advanced Mode.
c. Click the Backup tab. From the Job menu, choose Load Selections.
d. In the File Name box type %sbsprogramdir%\backup.
e. Click Small Business Backup Script.bks to select, and click Open.
f. Please choose your local drive as backup destination.
g. On the Backup tab, click Start Backup.
h. Can the problem be reproduced?
5. If the issue persists after you perform step 4, please help to gather
the Backup logs again for further research.
Thanks a lot for your time and co-operation! If you have updates, please
feel free to let me know. I am looking forward to your reply!
Best regards,
Brandy Nee
